I am a Technical Evangelist for Developer Express, my work blog is here but this one is more fun. :-)

February 2006 Entries

Rugby

For a scottish rugby fan like me, it just doesn't get any better than this :)

Sprint 5 Progress: 24-Feb-2006

This week's burn down graph is viewable here, along with a description showing how we are getting on.

Mashups

Now this is a good idea. A lightweight replacement for UDDI/WSDL for API discovery. Something subscribable that lets mashup developers know what's out there.

Comedy

This is one of the funiest things I've seen online for a while. It's only funny 'cos it's probably 95% true. :)

Sprint 5 Progress : 17-Feb-2006

I've uploaded this week's burn down graph to the flickr set, which you can see here. We've made some progress this week, though we are still adrift from the schedule. However, the second half of the sprint is not as "busy" as the first half so I am still confident of hitting the deadline.

Sprint 5 Progress : 10-Feb-2006

I have uploaded this week's updated burndown graph and have created a Flickr set here for you to view the graphs as I upload them. You'll be able to see from this weeks graph that everything is not going swimmingly. We've had a few problems that we think we've got fixed now and we're still confident of hitting the schedulled finish date.

Extreme Tayside Meeting

The next meeting of the Extreme Tayside group is tonight, details here. If you are in the area why not pop in and say hello?

Meet the Gang

Over here James Robertson points some of the guys who are responsible for the best programming environment in the world - bar none. (Even if it does come with one of the worst web sites :) )

More Xbox 360 Woes

Over on his blog, my mate Michael is having more problems with his "fixed" Xbox 360. At some point, you'd hope that putting out a quality product would be better than putting out the first product. I guess to the marketeers, gettting market share is worth pissing off a few customers. Hmmm, I wonder if the blogsphere will put an end to that practice?

Sprint 5

Sprint 5 has begun. This sprint will encompass the order and invoice services. We've had the planning meeting and the first 3 days of development have been completed. I'll (try to) post our burn down graph every Friday so that you can keep up with progress. You can view the first one here.

Sprints 3 and 4

Sprints 3 and 4 of the bakery control system are now complete. Screenshots of the updated GUI have been added to the Flickr set here, for those of you following along at home :)

More on OPML Reading Lists

As you may have noticed I implemented an OMPL reading list of my blog categories, after reading Dave Winer on the subject. The first implementation was just a hard coded OPML listing. Now, however, I have written a Python cgi script to generate the reading list from my WordPress blog categories. You can get the script from here if you want to take a look. Please feel free to use it on your own site if you wish.
